Getting away from the hustle and bustle of life is exciting, and can offer an incredible chance to reset and relieve yourself from the stress of the day-to-day. But just like any random getaway, the need to prepare and pack all the necessary essentials always comes first.
Personally, the most important aspect of packing for any short trip is to pack slightly more than what you actually need. Not too much because clutter would eventually cause a heavier load and disorganization, but being overly prepared is much better than being under-prepared.
Now that we have agreed that being overly prepared is better than being under-prepared, what then should we pack?
In this article, I would be sharing what you should bring, and what not to bring to help you thoroughly enjoy your weekend escape.
WHAT TO BRING
@polyvore
TWO PAIR OF SHOES
Whether you are traveling for a business trip or visiting family and friends for the weekend, you would need some shoes to wear.
If your weekend getaway supposedly happens during the winter/rainy seasons, then it would not be a bad idea to come along with a pair of boots without heels. They are sturdy for walking and work with most of the winter outfits.
For a summer/warmer weekend getaway, look for sandals and sneakers that are fashionable and comfortable.
TWO CASUAL TOPS AND ONE DRESS
Pack two casual tops to wear on Saturday or just a stylish casual sweater paired with a pair of jeans. For Saturday evening, a well-structured dress would be great, and it would also be a good option you can wear to the bar or restaurant.
Sundays are for relaxed casual outfits, so a t-shirt paired with a comfy jean would be perfect.
Ladies, be sure you pack the exact bra you need for each shirt in order to avoid major or minor mishaps.
TWO PAIR OF JEANS OR PANTS
Since you would be away for the weekend, packing 2 pair of jeans to wear the entire weekend would be brilliant. When selecting your jeans, ensure that they work well with your accessories and tops/shirts.
Alternatively, you can pack a perfect pair of men’s travel pants if jeans are not your first choice. Plan on bringing them clean and taking them off only when you’re ready to switch to your night/sleep wear.
PAJAMAS
Be sure to pack your pajamas.
If you don’t have one, a basic oversized shirt and any random track pants would be good, so long as you’re comfortable in it.
TWO PAIR OF SOCKS AND UNDERWEAR
If you’re among the very special and lucky individuals on earth who cannot have a good night's rest without a pair of socks on -like me-, then this is for you.
Because this is a weekend trip, you should pack the precise number of socks and underwear you need for 2-3 days. Spare socks would come in handy if there’s a lot of walking and stomping around planned.
PHONE AND CHARGER
When it comes to technology for a weekend getaway, I often suggest not bringing any or simply just turning off your phone/laptop and not working at all. But that might be a little bit overboard, depending on the type of job you do.
So, if you would have to bring any device along with you on this weekend trip, it should be your phone and charger. You could pack that laptop as well if it is necessary.
